contact usHoliday FAQs
Will there be snow this year?
The Charleston Place is currently in the midst of a multi-phased reimagination. The Market Street Circle courtyard—where our signature snowfall typically takes place—is temporarily being used for guest arrivals while the main drive is under construction.
While we’re unable to bring public snow to the Holy City this year, hotel guests will still enjoy a snowfall experience as part of their stay. We’re also delighted to continue many beloved holiday traditions and introduce exciting new experiences across The Charleston Place, The Riviera Theater, Sorelle, and American Gardens, our new community park.
Where will the Tree Lighting Ceremony be held this year?
This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at American Gardens, our new community park, on Friday, November 28. Join us as we celebrate the start of the holiday season with sparkling lights, festive music, and Charleston cheer. Please note, there will not be a tree lighting at The Charleston Place this year.
Will the Festival of Trees return this year?
At this time, we will not be offering our Festival of Trees due to private events booked in our meeting spaces and the ongoing renovation during the holiday season. We hope to bring this cherished tradition back in future years once our reimagination is complete.
In the meantime, guests can enjoy festive décor, seasonal programming, and exciting new holiday experiences across The Charleston Place, The Riviera Theater, Sorelle, and American Gardens, our new community park.
Is the new holiday carousel complimentary?
Yes! The holiday carousel is complimentary and open to the public. It’s a joyful new tradition for families and visitors to enjoy—and it’s fully ADA-compliant and accessible to all guests.
Is the holiday market complimentary?
Admission to the holiday market is complimentary. Guests are invited to browse a curated collection of local artisans and makers, with all items available for purchase.
Where is the best place to park?
There is no designated parking for American Gardens. We recommend using the Majestic Square Garage or street parking along King Street. Please note that the Hasell Street Garage is reserved for guests of The Charleston Place.
What are the park hours for American Gardens?
The park remains open throughout the day from 7AM – dusk for the community to enjoy. Holiday experiences—like the carousel, workshops, and performances—will begin at their designated times listed on our event schedule.
Which entrances can I use to access the park?
Both the Meeting Street and King Street entrances to American Gardens will be open throughout the holiday season for easy access.
Who illustrated the holiday map featured this season?
Our holiday map was illustrated by Laurent Sanguinetti, a New York–based French-Australian artist celebrated for his refined yet whimsical approach to design. Drawing inspiration from 17th- and 18th-century French aesthetics, Laurent blends timeless elegance with modern surrealism to create richly detailed worlds of texture and imagination.
His work has been featured by Hermès, Christian Louboutin, Burberry, Lancôme, and Baccarat, among other iconic brands. We chose to collaborate with Laurent for his ability to infuse storytelling and sophistication into every detail—capturing the spirit of Charleston and the wonder of the holiday season with unmistakable charm. Stay tuned for more of his enchanting illustrations throughout the holidays.
